Bring salvation to the lost

“The harvest truly is plentiful, but the laborers are few.  Therefore, pray the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into His harvest”.     Matt 9:37-38Thinking about the fields of harvest and the field workers, both in the natural and in the spirit.  Workers begin the cycle of sowing, nurturing, and reaping.  It starts by tilling the soil, much like intercessors breaking up the fallow grounds of men's hardened hearts.  Another group of workers are busy planting seed and covering it with good soil, to be followed by another group whose task it is to water. So much like God whose Word is sown abroad in ready hearts.  The Holy Spirit revealing Jesus and overseeing the implanted Word.  The body of Christ continues to disciple and brings the washing, the watering by the Word.  The seed (Jesus) and the ground (men's hearts) are joined together to bring new life. Even yet another group separates the weeds that would choke or debilitate the growing plants.  Each group works their assignment and moves on to another.  Not seeing the immediate results of their labors, each laborer believing that their efforts have accomplished their goals.  Each individual can visualize the finished work and the harvest waiting to be gathered. As you can see, our purpose is winning lost souls.  We must not get weary or faint but let us continue to prove ourselves worthy of the calling to be His co-laborers in His fields, a ripe harvest of souls.  We keep our hand to the plow not only for the saving of souls but for those young, tender believers who are to be nurtured in the way of faith, brought to maturity to become laborers themselves.

Once we have given ourselves wholly, to our Savior Jesus Christ, no longer do we belong to ourselves… we serve Jesus as Lord of our lives, Lord of the harvest.     And finally, the Lord Jesus Himself will appear to reap the greatest of all harvests at the time of His coming.     For the Lord Himself will descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of an archangel, and with the trumpet of God.  And the dead in Christ will rise first. Then we who are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air.  And, thus we shall always be with the Lord. “    I Thessalonians 4:16-17
